we've deconstructed 8 buildings to date in chicago!

While we haven't found a permanent home yet for the Building Material Reuse Center, we're busy deconstructing homes around the city. We've done 8 so far, and are storing these materials for when we open.

We're currently taking other materials for storage until we open, on a case by case basis. Please email Elise at ezelechowski@delta-institute.org for more info.

Elise,
I think that this is a great idea. I work in commercial real estate and sell apartment buildings (many of them vintage) in Chicago. I think that there is going to be a real push towards Green building and retro-fitting over the next couple of years. I would like to see how much you think that you end up saving on cost by using recycled materials as I think that the best way to promote people to embrace change is to show them how it can help their pocket book (unfortunately). Could you send me an email when you get a chance at seanoconnelly@gmail.com , I would like to find out more about how the building is going and possibly take a look at it upon completion.
Thanks,

Sean Connelly

Cannot wait until this opens! I have an eye on that flooring from your earlier post if there is enough square footage. Consider partnering with folks who run demo auctions. Murco has a warehouse already but I am not sure about demolitionsales.com
